Longtime Restaurant, Former Pier 44, Closes Its Doors
The seafood mainstay closed on Sunday after decades of business.

BABYLON, NY — The Pier, a seafood restaurant on Fire Island Avenue near the Babylon Village docks, closed its doors on Sunday, March 1st. The iconic business operated for decades as Pier 44. The owners also own Cooper Street Neighborhood Grille in the village.
Many residents reminisced about visiting the landmark eatery as many as 30 years ago. Ray Fasano is a Babylon resident who's been eating at The Pier for over 2o years.
"I was there last night and you never would know it was closing. It is part of Babylon's history. It's a sad day," he said.
