Overnight Detours Coming To Southern State Parkway
The detours will affect eastbound lanes throughout the Towns of Hempstead, Oyster Bay, and Babylon.
TOWNS OF HEMPSTEAD, OYSTER BAY, AND BABYLON, NY — Overnight detours will begin on Monday for roughly a month on the Southern State Parkway in the Towns of Hempstead, Oyster Bay, and Babylon, the New York State Department of Transportation announced.
Eastbound lanes on the Southern State Parkway between Exit 27 (Wantagh State Parkway) and exit 32 (State Route 110) in the Towns of Hempstead, Oyster Bay, and Babylon will be closed between 11 p.m. and 5 a.m. weeknights for about four weeks, weather permitting, to facilitate a pavement resurfacing project.
There will be signed detour along southbound Wantagh Parkway for two miles to Exit W3E (State Route 27/Sunrise Highway) eastbound for approximately 5.5 miles for northbound Route 110 to return to Southern Parkway.

Motorists are urged to plan accordingly and drive responsibly in work zones. Fines are doubled for speeding in a work zone. Convictions of two or more speeding violations in a work zone could result in the suspension of an individual’s driver license.
