Pet Of The Week: Sweet And Smart Vivian Will Warm Your Heart

Vivian is a lovable pup who resides at the Babylon Animal Shelter and she's Patch's Pet of the Week.

BABYLON, NY — Vivian is a heart-warmer who resides at the Babylon Animal Shelter and she's Patch's Pet of the Week.

"This sweetheart came into the shelter as a very skinny and scared stray back in August of 2024," longtime shelter volunteer Christine Franke told Patch.

Franke said that Vivian is around two years old, shy, but "very, very sweet."

"Vivian will no doubtfully warm your heart," she added.

According to shelter staff member Lyndsey Grosjean, Vivian is "a very smart girl who loves to play with her toys and fetch."

She also "aims to please and listens well," Grosjean said. Vivian is playful and has fun with "most" male dogs, big or small, and is even good with cats.

When it comes to Vivian's future, her friends at the shelter say she'd "thrive best in a quiet home with a savvy adopter who can help build her confidence and be the best girl she can be."

Grosjean said that Vivian can be "a little nervous" around men at first but warms up with proper instruction and patience.

"Please keep in mind, the dogs have limited interaction and spend most of their days alone in their kennels," Franke explained.

So with a dog like Vivian, a little love can go a long way.

"Please come down and meet Vivian or any of our other dogs," Franke said. "We are at full capacity."

Normal adoption hours at the shelter are Monday to Friday from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Shelter staff are also happy to train interested dog lovers, Franke said. There's also an abundance of bunnies, kittens, and cats to spend time with.
