Town's Toys for Tots Collection Wraps Up Wednesday

Annual toy drive will wrap up a week before Christmas.

The Town of Babylon's Toys for Tots Collection will officially wrap up, being one of the last locations to drop off toys for local needy children.

The town has been accepting unwrapped gifts at Babylon Town Hall on Sunrise Highway in Lindenhurst since late November. Most businesses have wrapped up their collection earlier last week.

The collection will be sent out for a special Christmas delivery at the end of day on December 18.

The Toys for Tots program is run through the United States Marines. The annual holiday drive collects toys and gifts to give to children up to age 12 in most communities and 14 to 16 in other areas.

The program suggests local good samaritans donate a toy they think would be appropriate for a child or relative in their family – there are no items too small or too big for donation.

Collection coordinators do ask that any authentic-looking weapons not be donated to the program – they will not be distributed in the event they are donated.
