She was turned into the shelter on Dec. 19, 2022 as a stray with no information.

"Except that the family member who did it, didn't realize that she had a microchip," the shelter said.

After some detective work, volunteers discovered that Lady's original owner passed away. She went to a family member's home, but she did not get along with the other dogs in the home.

The shelter also learned she previously lived with cats.

Unfortunately, Lady "deteriorated rapidly" in the shelter environment.

"It is a constant struggle to keep weight on her as the stress gets to her," the shelter said.

Lady is timid in meeting new people, and can be quite fearful of men; it takes some time to warm up, volunteers said.

"Once she does though, she gets very attached," the shelter said.

Volunteers even created Lady's own Facebook page, titled "Lady wants her furever home", to help her get adopted.

Lady loves toys and treats, and she is "just crazy" about a game of fetch.

She will need time to acclimate to a new home environment and to be with someone who takes it slow to learn about her, while she learns about them.

Lady is desperate for a companion, and it is urgent that she finds a way out of the shelter.
