Will You 'Be There' For These Adoptable 'Jackson 5' Guinea Pigs?

UPDATE: Jermaine and Tito have been adopted since this article first published. However, five more guinea pigs have since arrived at the shelter.

TOWN OF BABYLON, NY — With these pets in your life, you'll never have to wonder "who's loving you."

Five guinea pigs named after members of the Jackson 5: Michael, Marlon, Jermaine, Tito, Jackie, are this week's Babylon Animal Shelter's Adoptable Pets.

The shelter said that Michael, Marlon and Jackie are 1-year-old and Jermaine and Tito are 6 months-old.

Volunteers said that they are "overwhelmed" with the number of guinea pigs to be cared for in a shelter environment.

While these five pigs are up for adoption, the shelter has another 10 incoming on its owner surrender waiting list.

"Guinea pigs are not just a caged pet, so please do your research for what is involved in owning a pig," the shelter said. "The shelter staff will be more than happy to discuss pig care and you can also email the shelter for the literature that is provided with guinea pig."

There is no adoption fee for the guinea pigs, who are also microchipped.
