Superintendent Dr. Steven Maloney sent a message to family and students on Wednesday, regarding the update.
"On Thursday, November 17, 2022, I informed you of an incident at Bay Shore High School regarding an unauthorized recording device found at the High School," he said. "Since then, Bay Shore School District has been working closely with the Police to investigate the matter and identify the person responsible."
He went on to say that a suspect had been identified and taken into police custody.
"As a result, the individual, who was volunteering with the High School drama production, will no longer be allowed to access any District facility," Maloney said. "I would like to thank the Suffolk County Police Department, along with the High School administration and security personnel, for working diligently to bring this matter to a conclusion."
