Bay Shore Bar Slapped With Drug And Alcohol Violations: PD

A Long Island bar is facing multiple drug and alcohol violations after law enforcement raided the business on Sunday, Suffolk police say.

BAY SHORE, NY — The owner of a Bay Shore business is facing multiple drug and alcohol violations after a raid by several law enforcement agencies on Sunday, according to Suffolk County police.

Police said community complaints sparked an investigation into Copas Bar on Bay Shore Road around 12:20 a.m. on Sunday. During the raid, the New York State Liquor Authority, Suffolk police, the Town of Islip Fire Marshal, and Suffolk County Board of Health, found the business not in compliance with multiple penal and state liquor laws and was closed down by the fire marshal.

The owner and manager of Copas Bar, Carlos Ruiz-Perez, 46, of Brentwood, was arrested and charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and was issued multiple citations for State Liquor Authority Violations, police said.

Jason Hickson, 46, of Coram, and Voshon Lewter, 27, of Wyandanch, were issued citations for working as unlicensed security guards at the bar, police said.

Ruiz-Perez was issued a desk appearance ticket and is slated to appear at First District Court in Central Islip at a later date, police said.
