Bay Shore Coaching Couple Makes Suffolk Sports Hall Of Fame
Both were longtime Bay Shore High School coaches of multiple sports, including lacrosse and gymnastics.
BAY SHORE, NY — Longtime Bay Shore High School head coaches John and Allison Pfeffer have been named to the Suffolk Sports Hall of Fame Class of 2022.
The Pfeffers coached multiple sports, including lacrosse and gymnastics. In 2010 the pair won a Sportsmanship Award from Section XI, an association that promotes safe and equitable athletic participation.
In 2013 they celebrated 300 lacrosse wins, according to Newsday.

John Pfeffer died in July 2020 at age 72, Newsday reported. In their story on his death, Newsday said he "shaped many generations of athletes."
The Pfeffers and 19 other inductees — including Babylon Surfer Charlie Bunger — will be honored at an induction ceremony on May 18.

"This induction class packs a heavy punch of historic significance," Chris R. Vaccaro, Executive Director of the Suffolk Sports Hall of Fame, said. "From athletes to journalists, coaches to local icons and officials, the class has an amazing blend of individuals who have made their mark and have reached the pinnacle of success in their respective disciplines. We're looking forward to honoring them this spring."
