Dead Shark Washes Ashore At Robert Moses State Park: Reports

The 6-foot shark caused two fields to temporarily ban swimming, according to reports.

BAY SHORE, NY — A dead, 6-foot shark washed ashore on Robert Moses State Park early Wednesday, causing two fields to temporarily ban swimming, Newsday reported.

The sand tiger shark was seen at Field 5, as state officials confirmed that large schools of bait fish had been spotted off the ocean beaches at Field 4 and 5 — with the possibility of at least one shark in the mix.

A representative of Robert Moses State Park told Patch that swimming was banned at Field 5 from 11:45 a.m. until 1 p.m., and has now resumed. Swimming at Field 4 remained banned Wednesday afternoon, officials said.
