Elderly Woman Hit By Car And Hospitalized On LI: Police

An elderly woman was seriously injured after getting hit by a car on Long Island Friday morning, according to Suffolk County police.

BAY SHORE, NY — An elderly woman was seriously injured after getting hit by a car in Bay Shore on Friday morning, according to Suffolk County police.

Thomas Lawless was driving a 2023 Dodge Ram southbound on 4th Avenue when he was turning left onto East Main Street and struck an 88-year-old pedestrian in the middle of the intersection, police said.

The pedestrian, Mary Frederick, of Bay Shore, was transported to South Shore University Hospital in Bay Shore with serious injuries, police said.

Police said that Lawless, 63, of Deer Park, was not injured and the Dodge was impounded for a safety check.
