Monica Martinez Declared Winner For 4th District State Senate
The results are in for the race between Monica Martinez (D) and Wendy Rodriguez (R).

SUFFOLK COUNTY, NY — Monica Martinez (D) will represent the New York State Senate's 4th District, the New York Times said.
She led with 36,350 votes, or 49.18 percent, while businesswoman Wendy Rodriguez (R) Rodriguez came to a close second with 34,631 votes, or 46.85 percent.
Martinez (D-NY), previously represented in New York's 3rd Senatorial District from 2019 until 2021.

"As a former teacher, administrator, county legislator and senator, I will continue to protect my constituencies as I have in the past," Martinez said on her campaign's social media. "As Suffolk County’s only member of the Senate majority, I will be a loud voice for our communities."
Official results were delayed on Tuesday, after board of elections workers had difficulty loading memory cards needed to tally the vote.

The district encompasses parts of Bay Shore, Brentwood, Islip Terrace, West Babylon, North Babylon, Babylon Deer Park, Lindenhurst, Islip, Bohemia, North Great River, Baywood, Fire Island, and East Islip.
