Firefighters Extinguish Shed Fire On Long Island: Police
The Suffolk County Arson Squad is investigating a fire that broke out in a backyard shed at a Long Island residence on Sunday, police say.
BAY SHORE, NY — The Suffolk County Arson Squad is investigating a fire that broke out in the backyard shed of a Bay Shore residence on Sunday evening, police told Patch.
The Bay Shore Fire Department was called to the fire around 6 p.m. and found smoke coming from a backyard structure at a residence on Union Boulevard, officials said.
According to fire department officials, 2nd Asst. Chief Voges was first on the scene and confirmed the fire. Officials said the structure was fenced off and waiting to be demolished, so Chief of Department Ippolito used bolt cutters to gain access to the fire, allowing the crew of first due engine E3-1-5 to enter.

Once the crews entered, Chief Ippolito transmitted the 1st Alarm Assignment for a working fire while 1st Asst. Chief Danza led operations, officials said.
"The fire was knocked down quickly due to the quick and efficient response of Bay Shore Fire Department crews, officials said.

Mutual Aid was provided by the Islip Fire Department, the West Islip Fire Department, the East Islip Hook and Ladder Co. and Bay Shore-Brightwaters Rescue Inc.
Police said no injuries were reported.
