According to its website, geothermal heating and cooling works by moving temperature-conducting fluid through an underground loop of pipes beneath or near your home.
The ground five feet below the surface maintains a constant temperature year round, its website says. This allows the geothermal system to draw heat from the air in your home and transfers it to the ground in the summer. In the winter, it draws heat from the ground and transfers it to your home.
