Man Tried To Rob Bay Shore Chase Bank, Said He Had A Bomb: Police
The man claimed he had a bomb, police say.

BAY SHORE, NY — A man who attempted to rob a Bay Shore bank on Monday morning was arrested by Suffolk County police.
Donald Klapak, 58, who is without a known address, was arrested and charged with third-degree attempted robbery, police said.
At about 10:40 a.m., Klapak entered a Chase Bank located at 537 East Main St., and handed a teller a note demanding cash and told the teller he had a bomb, police said.

The teller did not comply with his demands, and Klapak exited the bank, authorities added.
Police then located Klapak a short distance away and arrested him, authorities said.

He will be held overnight at the Third Precinct for arraignment on Tuesday at First District Court in Central Islip.
