House Fire Hospitalizes 3 On Long Island: FD

Long Island firefighters extinguished a raging house fire that sent 3 people to the hospital on Saturday evening, officials say.

BAY SHORE, NY — Firefighters extinguished a blaze that broke out in a Bays Shore home over the weekend, Suffolk County police told Patch.

Firefighters from the Islip Fire Department responded to a fire at 1096 Spur Drive South around 5 p.m. on Saturday, firefighters said.

Upon arrival, 2nd Assistant Chief Joseph Ferrari found flames coming from the first and second floors of a two-story, ranch-style home, officials said. 1st Assistant Chief Charles Macchio arrived shortly after and established a command post, the fire department said.

Firefighters said all occupants of the home self-evacuated before crews arrived and that three people were transported to South Shore Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Mutual aid was provided by the East Islip, Bay Shore, Central Islip, Islip Terrace and West Islip fire departments, Exchange Ambulance of the Islips, Bay Shore-Brightwaters Rescue Inc. and North Babylon Fire Co.

Suffolk County Police Arson detectives are investigating the blaze.
