Illegal Dental Practice Bust Leaves 1 Arrested: Police
A woman was arrested for operating a dental practice without a license in a Long Island home, according to Suffolk County police.
BAY SHORE, NY — A woman was arrested for operating a dental practice without a license in a Long Island home on Thursday, according to Suffolk County police.
Yolany Y. Mejia Carranza, 55, of Huntington Station, was performing dental work without a license at a Bay Shore home, police said. She was arrested on Thursday around 3:15 p.m. and was charged with three counts of unauthorized practice of a profession, a class E felony, police said.
In addition to the Bay Shore location, detectives believe Mejia Carranza was previously operating an illegal dental business at 135 Broadway in Huntington Station, police said.

She was held at the Fourth Precinct and is slated to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on Friday, police said.
The investigation was done in conjunction with the Town of Islip Fire Marshal and building inspector, who executed a search warrant and discovered a fully functioning dentist office at the home, police said.
