Loaded Gun, Cocaine Found In DWI Crash On LI: Troopers
A man was arrested after a DWI crash with drugs and a loaded gun in the car on Long Island, according to New York State Police.

BAY SHORE, NY — A Bay Shore man was arrested after wrong way driving on the Southern State Parkway with drugs and a handgun in his car on Sunday, according to New York State Police.
Troopers were patrolling westbound on Southern State Parkway around 3 p.m. when they observed a Ford Taurus with Florida registration stopped on the Exit 41S ramp, police said. When they attempted to check on the vehicle, the driver made an illegal left turn and fled, driving westbound in the eastbound lanes of Bayshore Road, state police said.
State police said they followed the vehicle until it crashed into the southbound Sagtikos State Parkway guardrail at the Exit S3 ramp.

The driver was identified as Samuel Colon, 50, of Bay Shore, who refused multiple lawful orders and was removed from the vehicle, police said.
According to police, Colon was arrested for driving while intoxicated and troopers found a loaded semi-automatic handgun on the front passenger floor and that Colon was carrying cocaine on him. Troopers then determined that the loaded handgun and vehicle were both reported stolen, police said.

Colon was charged with driving while under the influence, a Class E Felony); third-degree unlawful fleeing a police officer, a misdemeanor; resisting arrest, a misdemeanor; second-degree obstruct governmental administration, a misdemeanor; second-degree reckless endangerment, a misdemeanor; reckless driving, an unclassified misdemeanor; fifth-degree criminal possession stolen property, a misdemeanor; second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, a Class C felony; third-degree criminal possession of controlled substance, a Class B felony; fourth-degree criminal possession stolen property, a Class E Felont; fourth-degree criminal possession stolen property; firearms, a Class E felony; unauthorized use of a vehicle without owner consent, a Class A misdemeanor; and numerous other vehicle and traffic law violations, state police said.
