TEAM MLF was among 32,000 cyclists who rode the 40 miles through the 5 boroughs of NYC with 0 cars on the road to benefit it’s mission of granting special wishes to children between the ages of 3 to 17, who have been diagnosed with life-threatening or terminal illnesses.
To commemorate the Foundation’s 40th anniversary this year, TEAM MLF had 40 riders participate and raise funds. With donations still coming in, the team has raised close to $70,000 that will help grant the wishes of the Foundation’s children waiting to receive their wishes.
“We are so grateful to our riders for their commitment of time and to our supporters for their kind donations. The money raised through this event will directly impact our children and their families. It is wonderful to see how our mission resonates with so many people. As a team, we are creating more smiles and touching lives one child at a time,” said Sandra White, Executive Director of the Marty Lyons Foundation.

About The Marty Lyons Foundation
The Marty Lyons Foundation, now in its 40th year, is a 501(c) (3) nonprofit organization founded by Marty Lyons, a former NFL defensive lineman for the New York Jets and member of the legendary “New York Sack Exchange”; whose mission is to fulfill wishes to children aged three to seventeen who have been diagnosed as having terminal or life-threatening illnesses. The Foundation is unique in that it will consider granting children a second wish. For the past 40 years, over 8,100 wishes have been granted. The Foundation is proud to have 10 chapters covering 13 states.
Marty Lyons was forced to “see the frailty, unfairness and wonder of life”, after experiencing three life-altering events in March of 1982. He was determined to establish a Foundation that would garner hope to children who were fighting unthinkable battles. With the encouragement of his family and friends, he formed the Marty Lyons Foundation in December of 1982. Since that time the organization has worked to keep hope alive in the hearts of thousands of children by providing wishes to put a smile on their face and create memories for them and their families to last a lifetime.
