A Long Island man has been indicted for murder after fatally stabbing another man during an argument at an apartment complex, the DA says.

BAY SHORE, NY — A Long Island man has been indicted for murder after fatally stabbing another man during an argument, according to Suffolk County District Attorney Raymond Tierney.

Antwane Lee, 31, of Bay Shore, was indicted on Tuesday for second-degree murder after allegedly stabbing and killing 24-year-old Justin Evans at an apartment complex in East Patchogue, the DA said.

"It is alleged that a verbal disagreement escalated to deadly violence and that the defendant chose to use a knife to resolve the dispute, Tierney said. "Our office will work diligently to seek justice for the victim."

According to the investigation, on March 30, at around 8 p.m., Suffolk County Police responded to several 911 calls reporting a man bleeding profusely while banging on doors and yelling for help in the parking lot of the Heatherwood Apartment Complex in East Patchogue, the DA said.

Upon arrival, police learned that Evans had been taken to NYU Langone Hospital, where trauma surgeons attempted to treat him for stab wounds to his neck and torso, the DA said. Despite the efforts of medical personnel who provided massive blood transfusions to save his life, Evans succumbed to his injuries, the DA said.

The Suffolk County Police Department Homicide Squad learned that Evans had allegedly been with Lee at the Heatherwood Apartment Complex on Pond View Drive in East Patchogue, the DA said.

Earlier that evening, Lee allegedly became angry with Evans during a verbal altercation and used a large, serrated hunting knife to stab him in the neck and torso, the DA said.

After he was stabbed, Evans, bleeding profusely, ran to the door of a nearby apartment and began banging on the door, begging for help, the DA said. Lee eventually took Evans to the hospital, left him at the Emergency Room door and allegedly fled in a 2016 Nissan Altima, the DA said.

The DA said he later turned himself in to police, who later recovered a large knife with what appeared to be blood from the crime scene.

On April 15, Lee was arraigned before Supreme Court Justice Richard Ambro for second-degree murder, a Class A felony, the DA said. Ambro ordered Lee remanded during the pendency of the case, the DA said. He is due back in court on May 14 and faces 25 years to life in prison if convicted, the DA said.

He is being represented by Christopher Gioe who was not immediately available for comment.
