NYS Senate 4th District Preview: Monica Martinez Vs. Wendy Rodriguez
Former Senator Monica Martinez and businesswoman Wendy Rodriguez will contest for the 4th Senatorial District.
LONG ISLAND, NY — Voters in New York's 4th Senatorial District will see two new names on the ballot when heading to the polls on Nov. 8.
The candidates:
- Monica Martinez (Democratic Party, Working Families Party)
- Wendy Rodriguez (Republican Party, Conservative Party)
Monica Martinez (D-NY) previously represented in New York's 3rd Senatorial District from 2019 until 2021. She defeated Assemblyman Phil Ramos in the Democratic primaries this August, obtaining 64.8 percent or 3,763 votes, where Ramos garnered 34.54 percent or 2,006 votes.

She will face businesswoman Wendy Rodriguez (R-NY) in the general election.
Either candidate will replace Senator Phil Boyle, who announced he would not seek re-election after 26 years in the State Senate.

It was a very difficult decision but, after 26 years in Albany, I have decided to not seek re-election to the New York State Senate. I intend to continue my career in public service, just closer to home. I will miss my wonderful colleagues and friends, on both sides of the aisle.

Suffolk County communities in the 4th Senatorial District include Deer Park, Babylon, North Babylon, Brightwaters, Bay Shore, West Islip, West Babylon, Baywood, and parts of Brentwood, Islip, Lindenhurst, Gilgo Beach and Fire Island.
