Pedestrian Hit, Seriously Injured By Mack Truck On LI: Police

A Long Island man was hit by a Mack truck and seriously injured on Friday morning, Suffolk County police said.

BAY SHORE, NY — A Long Island man was hit by a Mack truck and seriously injured while crossing the street in Bay Shore on Friday morning, according to Suffolk County police.

Baron Anderson, 58, of Hempstead, was crossing Pine Aire Drive when he was struck by the truck, driven by Carlos Riccardo Perez Brenes, at around 6:30 a.m., police said.

Anderson was transported to South Shore University Hospital in Bay Shore for treatment of serious injuries, police said.

Perez Brenes, 43, of New Jersey, was not injured, police said.

Police said officers from the Motor Carrier Safety Section responded to inspect the vehicle.
