Philip Ramos and challenger Daniel Mitola faced off in the race for New York State Assembly District 6.

LONG ISLAND, NY — Incumbent Philip Ramos appears to lead the race for New York State Assembly District 6.
According to unofficial results from the Suffolk County Board of Elections, Ramos has the lead with 21,243 votes (65.56 percent) over his Republican challenger Daniel Mitola's 11,143 (34.39 percent).
The 6th State Assembly District covers portions of Suffolk County including Bay Shore, Baywood, Brentwood, Central Islip, Hauppauge, Islip, Islandia, and North Bay Shore.
