There Has Never Been A Better Time For People Starting Out
Health Care/Medical Field Offers Abundant Career Potential
"There has never been a better time for people starting out seeking employment and a career where they can move up through promotions and advancement." This is the prediction of Nicole Laborde, R.N., who launched Ideal Home Care Services twelve years ago and Ideal School of Allied Health Care ten years ago, (both based in Hauppauge).
"For Long Islanders who feel they have very little going for themselves----if they are willing to apply themselves and work hard, they will be welcomed and embraced by the health care-medical field," Ms. Laborde declared. "There are abundant opportunities in today's health-medical field, which are driven by technology and innovation, where there is an extraordinary consumer demand for services, where there is now a vast investment of government funding put into place."
"As America's population lives longer. as improved results continue to be developed in managing health conditions, overcoming diseases and illnesses this calls for a vast human resources commitment to fulfill this undertaking," Ms. Laborde analyzes.

Nicole Laborde herself is a role model example of how people starting out with very little can achieve success. She immigrated from Haiti as a teenager on her own who did not speak English, landing at JFK Airport with one suitcase, very little money, but huge ambition, dreams, and hopes. Living in a tiny Brooklyn apartment, she attended high school while working two grunt jobs to earn income, after school, weekends, and summers.
After graduating from high school, she continued her long struggle trajectory earning her Licensed Practical Nurse degree, and then her Registered Nurse degree at SUNY-Stony Brook. "My experience has been how caregiving is noble, important work. This is especially true as a home health care worker when you can help ease someone's pain and suffering, or help to preserve their dignity when they have mobility limitations, lose their independence, and are unable to do for themselves. You can truly make a difference in the lives of these individuals and their families," Nicole Laborde describes.

"I don't want to mis-lead anyone," Nicole Laborde advises. "A strong, disciplined work ethic is required here and there are often frustrating, sacrificial challenges. Yet there is so much potential for achievement." Nicole Laborde enjoys greeting and mentoring people, young or mature, who want to make progress in their lives. She looks to inspire them by sharing her own humble beginnings so that they can identify with her.
