'Unauthorized Recording Device' Found In Bay Shore HS Bathroom: PD

BAY SHORE, NY — The Bay Shore community is on edge after a hidden camera was found inside a bathroom at Bay Shore High School.

The "unauthorized recording device" was found in a gender-neutral bathroom on Thursday, the Bay Shore School District said.

Superintendent Dr. Steven J. Maloney sent out a message to students and families regarding the incident that evening, the district said

"The device was found in a single-use bathroom and reported to building administration," Maloney said. "The District immediately began an investigation into the matter and notified the Suffolk County Police Department.

Police confirmed with Patch that they have launched an investigation into the incident.

"The Bay Shore School District takes matters like this very seriously and is cooperating with the Suffolk County Police Department to identify the responsible person," said Maloney. "Any individual found to be involved will be addressed in accordance with District policies and may be subject to criminal charges."
