Alberto Millan and his girlfriend told News 12 they were feeding their newborn twins inside the home at the time, and witnessed two men come out of the car.
The family said this could have been prevented if there was a guard rail at the dead-end street behind their home, something they say they've contacted the Town of Islip about several times, News 12 reported.

The Town of Islip said it has no record of any complaint or request for a guard rail from the resident to the Department of Public Works, Traffic Safety or Constituent Services.
However, at this time, the town Traffic Safety policy is that guard rails are not to be installed to protect personal property, a representative said. Therefore, this location would not meet the criteria for a guard rail.
The Town would consider the installation of a guard rail if it were to protect traffic from "changes in elevation, such as bodies of water, cliffs, and ditches; or to protect motorists from oncoming traffic on roads close to freeways or highways; or in instances where there is a severe curve or turn in the road."
Traffic Safety ensures that all proper signage is in place per Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices recommendations/requirements for dead-end streets and roadway termini, the representative said.
