Woman Hit By Car, Hospitalized With Serious Injuries On LI: Police

A woman was hit by a car and hospitalized on Long Island on Tuesday afternoon, Suffolk County police say.

BAY SHORE, NY —A pedestrian was hit by a car and seriously injured in Bay Shore on Tuesday afternoon, according to Suffolk County police.

Ken Anthony, 65, of Central Islip, was driving a 2005 Ford southbound on 5th Avenue when he attempted to make a left turn onto the eastbound lanes of Spur Drive North and struck a pedestrian that was trying to cross the road around 5:45 p.m., police said.

The pedestrian, Marie Lanfrit, 78, of Bay Shore, was transported via ambulance to South Shore University Hospital in Bay Shore for treatment of serious physical injuries, police said.

Police said Anthony was not injured and the Ford was impounded for a safety check.
