Amid Week Of Construction, 2 Northeast Queens Exit Ramps Narrow
The lane reductions, which make the exits 11-feet wide, come a couple of days before a stretch of the Cross Island Parkway totally closes.

WHITESTONE, QUEENS — Drivers should exercise caution at two major exits along the Cross Island Parkway during the next few days, the New York State Department of Transportation is warning drivers.
The ramp from the Whitestone Bridge to the Cross Island Parkway, and the Cross Island Parkway to the Whitestone Expressway — two major interchanges in Northeast Queens — will be reduced to 11-feet through the weekend, according to the transportation agency.

The reductions from the Bronx to Queens exit, which are implemented from 11:00 p.m. to 5:30 a.m., will go into effect on the night of Tuesday, Oct. 19 through the morning of Friday, Oct. 22. Then, the lane will be smaller again from 12:01 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 23.
The Cross Island Parkway to Whitestone Express exit will shrink from 10:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. starting the night of Tuesday, Oct. 19 through the morning of Friday, Oct. 22. The lane will also be reduced from 10:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. between Friday night and the morning of Saturday, Oct. 23.

The closures, which will help the DOT with planned rehabilitation work, are just the first of several changes this week coming to the Cross Island Expressway; a segment of the thoroughfare is slated to be closed all weekend.
