City Announces Enrollment Dates for Kindergarten

Families with children who will begin kindergarten this fall should apply in person at their locally zoned school between Jan. 10 and March 4, the city's Department of Education has announced.

Parents may apply to any schools which their children would be eligible to attend. The schools will contact parents with offers to schools beginning March 21.

Families must then visit the school to accept the offer between March 28 and April 15. At that time, they will pre-register them for the upcoming school year.

Parents must also present their child's birth certificate or passport as well as immunization records and the names of any siblings who are enrolled in grades one through five at the school this year.

Locally zoned schools will give priority to students who live within its community.

Offers are made to students based on the following priorities, listed from highest to lowest: zoned students with a sibling who will be in grades one through five in the upcoming school year, all other zoned students, pupils who live in the school district but outside its zone but have siblings at the school, students living in the district but outside the school's zone, and all other students.
