Auburndale Key Food To Close, 54 Workers Laid Off, State Records Show
The Francis Lewis Boulevard Key Food will close in November, Department of Labor records show.

AUBURNDALE, NY — Auburndale will lose a local supermarket and more than fifty employees will soon lose their jobs, state records show.
The Key Food on Francis Lewis Boulevard and 35th Avenue will permanently close on Nov. 23, at which 54 workers will be laid off, according to a notice filed Thursday with the Department of Labor.
The notice says the Key Food will close "due to a sale transaction."

A spokeswoman for the Bayside supermarket said, “no comment” when asked if the store’s closure was pandemic related.
The Key Food workers are represented by the UFCW Local 338 and Local 342, according to the notice.
