BAYSIDE, QUEENS — A Girl Scout troop in Bayside collected dozens of coats last month to support local children in need and their families in collaboration with a Queens nonprofit.

Troop 4562 received 85 coats through their holiday coat drive on Dec. 10 and donated the winter items later in the month to Heart To Heart Empowerment later, a nonprofit that regularly partners with Queens-based groups to help low-income families.

The event took place with the help of Elaine Polsky, the troop’s co-leader, and four other girl scouts who are ambassadors of One Warm Coat, a nonprofit that provides free coats to children and adults.
