BAYSIDE, QUEENS — A nursing home in Bayside was ranked among the best-performing homes in New York, according to a list compiled by U.S. News & World.
Ozanam Hall of Queens Nursing Home received a five out of five rating, making it a high-performing nursing home based on staffing, treatment after hospitalization, and daily assistance with medical and non-medical needs.
The nursing home in Bayside, located at 42-41 201st St., scored “high performing” in both short-term rehabilitation and long-term care.

The facility has 432 beds and has nonprofit, and corporate ownership. The nursing home participates in Medicare and Medicaid.
New York State Veterans Home in New York City in Jamaica was also ranked among the 37 best nursing homes in the state, with over 611 nursing homes.

The list comes a year after it was revealed that the Cuomo administration hid data about the deaths of nursing home residents after the Covid-19 pandemic broke out, intentionally understating the pandemic’s toll on nursing home residents in New York.
This is the first time in the 13 years U.S. News has been compiling the ratings that infection rates and the consistency of weekend nursing staffing were included in the quality of care issues people should consider before deciding on a nursing home.
The performance ratings are based on data retrieved from reports nursing homes are required to submit to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid data.
