Bayside Path To Undergo Open Street Redesign, Become Bike Boulevard
Officials said Monday that 33rd Avenue, from Utopia Parkway to 215th Place, will undergo a redesign to become a bike boulevard.

BAYSIDE, QUEENS — The Transportation Department announced that a street in Bayside is set to become a bike boulevard by 2023 as the city develops its plans to ensure cyclist safety in Queens.
Officials said Monday that 33rd Avenue, from Utopia Parkway to 215th Place, will undergo a redesign for pedestrian and bicycle priority corridors.
“Regardless of how you navigate our city, you deserve to do so safely," said Queens Borough President Donovan Richards Jr. "That includes our cyclists and e-bike riders, for whom our streets have historically been inhospitable and dangerous."

Officials said Monday that they will also install barriers on Queens Boulevard, notoriously known to cyclists as the Boulevard of Death, from 72nd Street to Grand Avenue in Elmhurst. The same installation will take place on Vernon Boulevard.
