QUEENS, NY — A new NYPD gym was dedicated to a police officer who was killed on the Long Island Expressway by a driver accused of being drunk.

"Thank you to the Kiwanis Club of Ridgewood and everyone else who made this tribute to our fallen hero possible," police wrote alongside photos of the new gym, which is located at the Highway District 3 station in Cunningham Park, where Tsakos formerly worked.

"A hero officer who did everything right in his life for us... is dead because of other people's negligence," said then-mayor Bill de Blasio at the time of the accident.

Beauvais' blood alcohol content was nearly two times the legal limit of New York State, reported the Queens DA, who indicted her on a slew of charges, including manslaughter in May.

Beauvais, of Hempstead, is now reportedly in custody on Rikers Island and is scheduled to be back in court later this week.
