Not Too Late to Join First Lion’s Club Dinner

A service organization is revived in Bayside.

The second start of a charitable coalition of shop owners and homeowners, the Bayside-Whitestone Lion’s Club will have its charter signing dinner on Tuesday at .

The Lion’s Club is an international service organization that had a long-standing presence in Northeast Queens, but fizzled out in the 1970's in Whitestone, and about five years ago in Bayside, and  according to its new President, Paul Vallone.

Now, with a new charter, the group is being revived—and invite anyone to participate.

“The Corona Lions are our guiding Lions,” said group president Paul Vallone, adding, that there are, “a lot of roots back there. A lot of Italians.” Vallone said he felt compelled to do something to bring the organization—the world’s largest in terms of public service—back to the area.

They have raised almost $10,000 in what they hope to apply as scholarships already, and have several other charitable causes they hope promote.
