Parker Jewish Institute brings residents enriching activities
There is always a full roster of programming that entertains and engages

Parker Jewish Institute continues to bring a mix of dynamic enrichment activities to residents. From live music performances to crafts projects, and from virtual reality excursions to yes, visits from miniature horses, there is always a full roster of programming that engages Parker’s residents.
Recently, for example, residents greeted HorseAbility’s miniature horses at Parker, delighting in the benefits of equine therapy. Research shows that older adults, including those with Dementia or Alzheimer’s who interact with horses, may experience an enhanced quality of life. Studies reveal that these older adults may enjoy improved coordination, interpersonal relationships, mood and other facets of overall wellbeing.
All year long, residents at Parker enjoy a plethora of offerings. These offerings include a regular concert series, during which residents sing, dance and clap along to music performers. Through Virtual Reality experiences, residents can see Broadway shows, visit new cities, or even stop by an animal exhibit at a world-class zoo. And there are barbeques, painting, music appreciation, gardening, yoga, Tai Chi, Karaoke, Zumba, word games, storytelling and more.

Designed to enhance quality of life and happiness, these activities promote engagement and overall wellness. They also encourage socialization and foster community-building, helping people form friendships and avoid loneliness. And studies show that older adults who stay active are less susceptible to the risk of injury and disease.
“Parker always looks to bring innovative programming to our residents that they will enjoy, find enriching and help keep them healthy,” said Michael N. Rosenblut, Parker’s President and CEO. “This creative approach is filled with an abundance of inviting activities that our residents look forward to, each and every day.”
