Pickleball Court Set To Hit Bayside Area Within The Next Months
Council member Vickie Paladino told Patch on Tuesday that a pickleball court will pop up within the next months in District 19.
BAYSIDE, QUEENS – Amid the popularity boom for pickleball, District 19 is set to have a new pickleball court within the next few months.
Council member Vickie Paladino told Patch on Tuesday that a pickleball court will pop up within the next months in District 19, which includes Bayside, College Point, Little Neck, and other areas, as part of an Adopt-a-Park initiative instead of a capital project.
“Pickleball being as popular as it is now, a lot of times it takes over tennis courts and it upsets the tennis players,” said Paladino. “Instead of it being a three-year project,” she said, “it’s going to take less time, it could take as little time as a month.”

Paladino said that NYC Parks will first scout for underused courts in the district to determine which one will serve as a pickleball court. Once they examine the asphalt, the department will paint the court and install nets.
“We’re still scouting about, but I think by spring we’ll see quite a few pickleball courts popping up,” Paladino said.
