45-Year-Old Dies In Motorcycle Crash In Bed-Stuy: Cops

BED-STUY, BROOKLYN — A 45-year-old North Carolina man died early Sunday morning after his motorcycle crashed in Bed-Stuy, according to police.

Emergency responders found Donnell Oakes with severe head trauma near Halsey Street and Marcus Garvey Boulevard just before 4 a.m., police said. He was taken to Interfaith Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Police said Oakes had been riding his motorcycle near the intersection when he and an unknown dark-colored sedan crashed. The sedan did not stay at the scene, police said.

The NYPD's Highway Collision Investigation Squad is investigating the crash.

Oakes was from Charlotte, N.C., records show.
