Woman Fatally Struck After Falling At Bed-Stuy Crosswalk: NYPD

The woman tripped before she was struck by a car while crossing Broadway in Brooklyn, police said.

BED-STUY, NY — A 68-year-old woman was hit and killed by a car in Bed-Stuy Wednesday morning after she tripped and fell into the crosswalk, police said.

The woman was crossing Broadway near Flushing Avenue at about 10:30 a.m. when she fell onto the road, officials said. A Jeep driving eastbound on Broadway then struck the woman, according to the NYPD.

She was rushed to an area hospital where she was pronounced dead, police said.

A NYPD spokesperson said that the 72-year-old driver stayed on the scene but no arrests had been made as of Wednesday afternoon.

Police said it was not immediately clear whether the driver or pedestrian had the right of way but no criminality was suspected. The investigation was ongoing.
