BED-STUY, NY — A $21.6 million renovation brought two new dog runs, a skate park and game tables to an Ocean Hill park reopened last week.

Callahan-Kelly Playground, situated between Truxton and Fulton Streets, now sits 3-acres large after taking over a block-long stretch of Sackman Street.

The renovations stretched over years and brought amenities for locals of all ages, including ping pong tables, fitness equipment, turf field, basketball courts and playground equipment.

The park's remodel was part of a larger revamp of Broadway Junction, which includes a $495 million accessibility upgrade to the subway complex, announced in May.

The city will improve pedestrian infrastructure on Van Sinderen Avenue between Fulton Street and Atlantic Avenue — streets that pose a significant barrier to local residents, said City Council Member Sandy Nurse in May.
