Bed-Stuy Teen Girl's Suspected Shooter Identified, Cops Say

BEDFORD-STUYVESANT, BROOKLYN — Police have identified the suspected gunman who shot a 13-year-old girl near a Bed-Stuy playground last week.

Ahziem Walter, 19, is wanted for shooting the girl as she sat on a park bench near St Andrew's Park on Kingston Avenue and Herkimer Street on July 24 about 7:50 p.m., said police.

The bullet caught the girl in the chest and seriously wounded her lung, ribs and shoulder, said police.

The gunman ran away and the 13-year-old was rushed to Kings County Hospital, police said.

Police ask anyone with information about where to find Walter to contact the NYPD.

Walter currently faces assault, harassment and menacing charges for punching a person in the back of the head on the corner of Bedford Avenue and Martense Street in Flatbush on June 23 about 12:15 p.m., according to a criminal complaint.

The Brooklyn teen was arraigned in Brooklyn Criminal Court on June 30, and released without bail, court records show.
