Body Found Inside Burning Car In Brooklyn, Police Say

BROOKLYN, NY — A body found inside a burning vehicle on Monday night in Brooklyn has sparked an investigation, authorities said.

Firefighters were called to Marginal St. near Bushwick Ave. in Cypress Hills around 7:25 p.m. after receiving multiple 911 calls of an explosion and subsequent fire, a spokesperson with the NYPD said Tuesday morning.

Firefighters responding to the scene extinguished the fire and that's when authorities discovered a man's body inside the vehicle.

Police have since identified the man as Ruben Silver, 59.

It was not immediately known whether Silver was killed in the fire or what caused it. Authorities said the city medical examiner is still determining the cause of his death.
