UPDATE, 2 p.m.: The fire was declared “under control” at 1:50 p.m., according to the FDNY. There are still no reports of injuries.

A second-alarm fire in a Bed-Stuy building sent billows of black smoke over Brooklyn just after noon on Saturday. The menacing cloud could be seen from Manhattan.

Saturday’s fire tore through a two-story commercial building at 60 Nostrand Avenue, across from the Marcy Houses, according to the Fire Department of New York (FDNY).

No injuries were immediately reported.

More than 100 firefighters from 25 units responded to the burn, an FDNY spokesman told Patch.

Crown Heights resident Mark Hagan said on Twitter that from about two miles away, he thought he saw flames shooting 30 to 40 feet in the air.
