Brooklyn Murder Suspect Caught Manspreading on the A Train
Gregory White, 43, was taken into custody for violating local law, police say — then arrested for murder.

If you’re wanted for murder in New York City, it’s often best to keep your legs together on the train.
Gregory White, 43, a Brooklyn murder suspect without such foresight, was busted by NYPD officers on the southbound A Train near Manhattan’s Columbus Circle station early Thursday for resting his foot on the next seat over.
The officers ”were conducting a maintenance sweep” when they spotted White ”occupying more than one seat, with his foot across the seat next to him,” an NYPD spokesman told Patch.

Cops took White into custody for violating local law, the police spokesman said — but when they ran his name, they realized he was a wanted man.
“Further investigation revealed he had an active warrant,” the spokesman said.

White, an East New York resident, had previously been named as the prime suspect in the brutal Jan. 24 stabbing of 58-year-old Coney Island resident Victoria Hammond.
Hammond was found dead on the floor of her living room that day “with a stab wound to her torso and a laceration to her head,” police said in a statement sent to Patch.
Nearby residents, along with Hammond’s four sons, where deeply shaken by her murder. “If you liked her, you liked her,” her son Derrick, 38, told the Daily News. “If you didn’t like her, you still liked her ’cause she had no dislike for you.”
