An initial NYPD investigation found that the 49-year-old man driving the truck was heading eastbound on Lafayette , then attempted to make a left turn onto Kossuth Place — “striking the female pedestrian as she was crossing from south to north in the crosswalk on Lafayette Avenue.”
Police said the driver of the Braun’s Express semi truck remained on scene, and was not arrested.
Ramsey was reportedly carting a bag of laundry across the street when she was hit. A photo of the crash scene shared by ABC7 showed her laundry bag and a bottle of detergent lodged beneath the semi.
