Build a Playground With the 800 Gates Avenue School Community

A new playground is planned for Bed-Stuy Brooklyn

Please register below to help build the KaBOOM! playground in collaboration with the CAA Foundation and La Cima Elementary Charter School, Bedford Stuyvesant Collegiate Charter School and Middle School 267 Math, Science & Technology (collectively called the 800 Gates Campus).

  • WHEN: Saturday, May 5th, 2012 from 8:00 AM - 3:00 PM.
  • WHERE: La Cima Elementary Charter School, MS 267 and Bedford Stuyvesant Collegiate Charter School (collectively called the 800 Gates Campus) located at 800 Gates Avenue.  See map below, and click here for interactive directions!
  • GETTING THERE: Street parking is available, but is extremely limited; please take the J train at Gates, the A train at Utica, the B52 bus at Gates/Stuyvesant or the B46 bus at Malcolm X and Gates.
  • WHAT'S PROVIDED: Breakfast, lunch and plenty of water will be provided. The appropriate tools and gloves will be provided for the projects that need them.
  • WHAT TO BRING/WHAT NOT TO BRING: If you have a resusable water bottle, please bring it with you.  Please leave your purse and/or other valuables at home.
  • WHAT TO WEAR: The playground build will happen rain or shine.  Please come dressed for the weather.  Comfortable, close-toed shoes are a necessity; sneakers or work boots that you don’t mind getting a little dirty are advised.
  • CHOOSE TO PLEDGE YOUR HOURS: Blue Star Families is a non-profit dedicated to helping military families.  Operation Honor Cards is an initiative that invites people to pledge volunteer hours in honor of the service of military families, veterans and service members.  You can learn more by visiting their website.
