Elderly Woman Killed, Struck By Two Hit-And-Run Drivers In BK: NYPD

Two back-to-back hit-and-run drivers struck a 79-year-old woman crossing the street in Bed-Stuy Thursday evening.

BED-STUY, NY — An elderly woman was struck by back-to-back hit-and-run drivers Thursday night in Bed-Stuy, according to the NYPD.

The horror started about 6:35 p.m. when a 79-year-old woman was crossing New York Avenue at a marked crosswalk near Herkimer Street. A driver traveling eastbound on Herkimer Street struck the woman, according to the NYPD.

The car kept driving as the woman lay injured in the street, police said.

Shortly after, a second car came through and struck her without stopping, according to police.

The woman, identified as Yvonne Sandiford, was pronounced dead on the scene, according to FDNY. There were no arrests Friday, and police continued to investigate.
