Fire At Bed-Stuy Building Closes Down 3 Blocks: FDNY

Three blocks on Tompkins Avenue were closed while firefighters battled a blaze Wednesday morning, according to officials.

BED-STUY, BROOKLYN — A fire at a Tompkins Avenue building closed down three blocks in the neighborhood Wednesday morning, according to officials.

The blaze broke out at 286 Tompkins Ave. between Quincy Street and Lexington Avenue just after 10 a.m., according to FDNY alerts.

By 10:20 a.m., it had closed down the street extending from Greene Avenue to Gates Avenue as firefighters worked to put out the fire, according to the local precinct.

The fire was marked under control by the FDNY around 10:35 a.m. The precinct had taken down the traffic alert shortly after.

Information was not immediately available about whether there were any injuries in the fire.
