Every major crime has decreased in Bed-Stuy's 81st Precinct this year as compared to the same period in 2022.

BED-STUY, NY — Major crime decreased by 24 percent in Bed-Stuy's 81st Precinct in October, police data show.
The 81st Precinct, which covers the neighborhood east of Marcus Garvey Boulevard, saw rape and burglary decrease by over 70 percent in October as compared to the year before, police data show.
Shootings, which are not included in the major crimes category, saw a small increase in October but have dropped by over 50 percent so far this year.

Robberies were the only crime to significantly increase in October with a 25 percent uptick, data show.

Major crimes in Bed-Stuy's 79th Precinct, which covers west of Marcus Garvey Boulevard, decreased by just under one percent in October. Rape, felony assault, burglary and grand larceny all saw drops compared to the same time last year.
Shootings and hate crimes dropped in the 79th Precinct in October, while auto theft significantly increased, according to the NYPD. Robbery also saw a slight uptick in October.
Citywide, major crimes dropped by over 3 percent in October as compared to last year. Murder, rape, burglary and grand larceny all declined across the city in October, while robbery, felony assault and auto theft slightly increased, data show.
