BED-STUY, BROOKLYN — A new hub for Black artists is coming to Bed-Stuy.

Called Seed Brklyn, the space at 1217 Bedford Avenue will host a cafe, a shop and an art gallery, all with the focus on up-and-coming Black independent artists, reports Brooklyn Magazine.

Christophe Roberts, an artist based in Brooklyn, is the one planting this "Seed" as a way to uplift smaller brands and designers, he told Brooklyn Magazine, while also giving them space to germinate their ideas and concepts.

In addition to the gallery, a cafe called the Greenhouse Cafe, and a shop featuring the work of artists involved with Seed, the space also has an outdoor garden space, according to Brooklyn Magazine.

The art gallery, called Oasis, will be an immersive art space featuring both digital NFT works and physical art, a space that Roberts told Brooklyn Magazine he hopes will become an incubator to help Black artists grow.

Roberts, who has worked with designers and clients like Nike and Wu-Tang Clan, also wants the community to be engaged with what's happening on the ground in the art community's emerging Black talent, according to Brooklyn Magazine.

Seed Brklyn also has its sights set on broader goals as well, aiming to help the community at large also enrich themselves by providing resources to those who may lack them, he told Brooklyn Magazine.

“I want you to learn about industries here, I want you to learn about financial literacy, LLCs, logos, stress points of creating a business,” Roberts said to Brooklyn Magazine,“I documented this whole process so other like-minded creatives and individuals will know the blueprint.”
